DOMINICAN INSTITUTE
FOR THE ARTS
A Dominican Sister of Sparkill, Adele was awarded the Fra Angelico Award in 2004 at the Racine Gathering. Adele Myers, OP created relief and freestanding sculpture using cement and fresco. Her work is exhibited throughout the east and is included in public and private collections. She also designed stained-glass windows and mosaics. Adele's Via Dolorosa, a cement and fresco Way of the Cross, can be seen at St. Thomas Aquinas College's chapel in Sparkill, NY. Adele's preaching spirit can be witnessed in her use of form and color. Her public art is an inspiration to many in Rockland County.
Adele joined the fullness of God's creativity in the fall of 2015.
"I embrace the concept of art as gift - a gift that has the power to extend our minds and enrich our spirits. It counters the image of art as self-centered, "obsessed with its own reflection." Each day in my studio begins with a prayer for the strength to avoid cowardly solutions, falsity, and insincerity in my work."
