Mary Fran was a long-time, loyal and dedicated member of DIA. She was involved in the planning of Gatherings, served as a DIA Board member and subsequently, as our DIA President. In 2006, she was the recipient of the DIA Spirit Recognition Award.
Mary Fran was a poet, a sculptor and a vocalist but her artistic spirit exploded at the pottery wheel. What a gifted potter she was! Her artistic creations spanned the gamut from large intricate pieces to small whimsical ones that delighted the child in each of us.
When Mary Fran could no longer drive, her faithful friend, Maira Barry OP, chauffeured her to the annual Gathering where Mary Fran revelled in just being with us. I fondly remember her sitting beside the Registration Table at our 2014 Adrian Gathering and cheerfully welcoming each person--simply delighted to see everyone. Ultimately her health declined and she could no longer join us. She went to the Divine Artist on June 20, 2021.
